Tokorozawa Junior High School was founded in 1947.
At that time, the classes were 11 and 482 students.
November 12th is the founding anniversary.
The school chapter was made in 1948.
The school flag was made in 1949.
A school song was made in 1958.
School meals started in 1964.
The school building was completed in 1966.
The gymnasium and the pool completed in 1967.
Martial Arts Established in 1993.
Entering Junior High School in 2016, and in that year there was a celebration of the 70th anniversary.

There are “Three pillars” in our school.
These are in front of the school building.
The first is greeting.
The second is chorus.
The third is volunteer.

Every student cleans the city a few times a year.

We enjoy the studying experience in our school.
There are about 700 students in Tokorozawa JHS. 1962’s population had the largest population so far. There were about 1800 students and 39 classes in 1962. Now the population is decreasing more than before.

APRIL
Entrance Ceremony
When we come to Tokorozawa JHS, We have our first event called a “nyugakushiki”. It is the entrance ceremony. We become Tokorozawa JHS students in the entrance ceremony. We think about making new friends, club activities, events and so on. We are very excited and very nervous. We sing the school song with our seniors and teachers. We take the first step forward of our JHS life.

MAY
Clean Up Activity
In the spring and autumn we have clean up days. We clean our city with local people. We work as volunteers. For example, collecting trash and weeding. It is tiring but we can get a sense of achievement. Let’s clean our city!!

JUNE
Outdoors School
Outdoors school is held every June when we are second – year students. We stay in Nagano for two days. We join an agriculture experience. For example, you can harvest vegetables, pick up grasses. So we can learn many things about nature. It is interesting for us to cook curry, rice with hashed beef, or stew. At night, all students do a campfire and dance. It is so much fun. We can watch fireworks in the end. It is one of the exciting events of our school life. It will be a special memory for you!
School Trip
In the third grade, we have a school trip in June. We can go to Kansai Area. And we are able to see many traditional temples. For example, Kinkakuji、Kiyomizudera, and so on. We become better friends with classmates through our trip. All of students are looking forward to enjoying this last school trip.

Sports Day
In our school, the sports day is held in September. All the classes practice very hard to win. Girls dance “soranbushi”. Boys do set gymnastics. Also, there is an interclass relay race. They are very excited to cheer their classmates. You’ll surely enjoy it. Please come to watch our sports day. We’re waiting for you!!
Student Council Election
This is an election to decide representatives of our school. It decides 8 representatives, one president, two vice presidents, three secretaries and two accountants. Representatives elected in it are assigned many duties that the student council members do for a year. If you want to work there, you had better run it. Let us join the student council election!

OCTOBER
Chorus Contest
The Chorus contest is held in October at the Muse in Tokorozawa. It is one of the exciting events in our school. We practice every day to get first prize. Everybody sings in chorus. All eyes are turned on the conductor. We concentrate our performance on the stage. It is a breathtaking scene. If you come to the chorus contest, you will be impressed by our songs.

A First grader will have a Job challenge. This is an event where they can get experience at a job. The experience will be a precious one. We can learn about that job. We can enjoy it.

School Lunch
Everyone prepares the school lunch together. We enjoy having school lunch. We can eat many kinds of meals. School lunch is healthy and cheap Lunch time is 35 minutes.
Club Activity
There are many club activities in Tokorozawa Junior High School. For example, we have baseball, soccer, and so on, as athletic clubs. We have chorus, science, brass band and so on, as culture clubs. Each club practices hard to win a game or an event.
Atomosphere
The atmosphere of our school is bright and active. Especially the atmosphere during sports day is very active. But in classes the atmosphere is calm and concentrated. We can change the atmosphere quickly. This is a wonderful place for us.
